Mocha Frappuccino Smoothie Bowl

This Mocha Frappuccino Smoothie Bowl will remind you of your favorite Starbucks classic, but will fill you up with protein and nutrients to start your day.

Mocha Frappuccino Protein Smoothie Bowl

My coffee journey began my freshman year of college.

I started ordering frappuccinos from the Starbucks in our main campus library (Club West for any Gator readers). This is also subsequently when I gained the freshman 15, but I digress.

This was the first time I had ever had any sort of coffee flavor. I gradually went from the fraps, to a latte, to straight up coffee. And that’s when a coffee lover was born.

I have since expanded my coffee pallet from Starbucks to any local coffee shop I can find. But, I do still venture to Starby’s for its convenience and tall Pike with soy.

BUT, when presented the inspiration for a smoothie bowl recipe, I thought: what’s the first thing I want in the morning? Coffee. Zero hesitation. Literally, the smell of coffee will get me out of bed more than anything (is that sad or what?).

And more often than not, I find myself wanting more even after one cup.

So, I created my own frappuccino version that will fill me up, serve as breakfast, and not fill my body with what is probably 10 cups of sugar.

As you can see, I stuck with four toppings. Here are some options to complement the sweet, mocha-coffee flavors of this smoothie:

  • Dates
  • Banana
  • Chia seeds
  • Chocolate chips or cacao nibs
  • Coconut flakes
  • Granola or oats
  • Almonds

And to keep the traditional frappuccino texture, I threw in some ice cubes, which isn’t something I normally add to smoothies. It’s not a necessity unless you’re looking for that special texture.

Coffee in a BOWL all the time…I love eating my smoothies with a spoon. I have great memories as a kid having milk and coffee when I was younger and LOVED it…Good full fat milk…YUMMY!

My grandma would sometimes make me cafe con leche, but it was like 95% milk and 5% coffee, so I didn’t taste the coffee flavor haha. I know what you mean, something we would probably not go for as adults – we didn’t give a crap when we were younger!!

I love this roundup! I’ve been drinking black coffee since I was a freshman in high school, but I have yet to make a smoothie with it. This sounds like a delicious recipe!

I am ALL ABOUT THIS. First of all, coffee definitely gets me out of bed in the morning, because my coffee post has a timer that I set to brew a few minutes before my alarm. My dad used to give me choc covered espresso beans as a child, so my coffee addiction started earlyyyyy. This smoothie sounds and looks crazy good tho. Smoothies in a bowl all day erry day. Unless I’m driving, then I’ll settle for a cup.
